MINDFULNESS BASED STRESS REDUCTION TOOLS

This 4 week educational program is modeled on the M.B.S.R. Tools program, offered at the Omega Institute. M.B.S.R. Training was
developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in 1979. The training is now offered in educational
and medical communities around the world. The class size is limited to 20 participants.

The M.B.S.R. Tools Include: guided instruction in mindfulness meditation and mindful movement, exercises to enhance awareness in
everyday life, daily mindfulness assignments and methods for improving communication. All practices are optional.

This program is ideal for beginners and emphasizes learning more about our body's sensation, emotions and thought patterns in a
nonjudgmental and accepting way. Through the M.B.S.R. Training we experience more understanding and care for ourselves. We  
recognize the early signs of stress and reduce its impact on our enjoyment of life.

The core practices of meditation, gentle stretching and body scan will be included in each session. Depending on the interests of the
participants we will also explore a topic each evening, such as antidotes to hurriedness, reducing anxiety, mindful listening and
speech, conscious eating, getting a good night's sleep, etc.

The M.B.S.R. practices help to cultivate compassion for ourselves, but they also require compassion. So you will be asked not to
participate in any practices which you feel uncomfortable with. The practices will be compatible with any spiritual tradition and for
those without a spiritual belief system.

DATES & TIMES: Nov. 5, 12, 19, 26, 6:00 - 8:30 p.m.

COST: $150 before Oct. 29, $175 after Oct 29.
$75 for those on a limited income or call to negotiate a cost.
A Friendly Discount of $25 is given to both parties when you bring a friend/partner.

FACILITATORS: Joy Finney and Ross Clark
Joy has participated in Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction training under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn and has a background in
nursing, social work and health promotion.  She is a Certified Yoga Instructor and has been exploring yoga for over 30 years.

Ross has been interested in meditation for over 32 years. Ross has studied Eastern meditation and Western science to reduce
personal stress. He has also completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training program at the University of Massachusetts
Medical School.

Hi Ross - Just wanted to thank you for a lovely Saturday morning. I enjoyed both aspects (meditation & movement)of the session
very much. I also liked your idea of Stopping & Dropping. I used it almost immediately in some of the traffic on the way home and
again on Sunday morning when some family problems arose.
